Mom of the Month
Hey ya’ll! I am thrilled to be this month’s Mom of the Month and to share a little about me.
My husband and I were blessed with a beautiful baby boy last July. Motherhood is the most wonderful and most difficult job I have ever held. Once my baby was born, I toyed with the idea of staying home, and regularly changed my mind on the matter. Luckily, the Lord provided a clear answer when I was laid off in February. As I planned my transition to being a stay at home mom to an 8 month old, I soon realized I would need someone to talk to when my husband deployed. At my first FIT4MOM class, multiple different moms introduced themselves to me and I knew that this community of moms would be what got me through this deployment. I joined FIT4Mom that day. In true mom fashion, as soon as my husband left, my baby immediately started waking every 45 minutes at night. These moms encouraged me everyday I showed up, exhausted from the night before.
My husband and I met in D.C. On our first date, he invited me for coffee so I dressed cute, planned to be indoors and wore heels. He never did buy me coffee that date, but after walking 13 miles in my heels in the below freezing weather, I knew he was the One. He proposed after returning from deployment and we were married within the year. Two summers ago, the Navy moved us out to San Diego. Until February, I was an attorney for the Department of the Navy, supporting Navy and Marine Corps clients both in the DC and San Diego areas. I've gone from negotiating multi-billion dollar deals to negotiating with my baby about bedtime and snacks... and I couldn't be happier.
When we are not at FIT4MOM, you will find us at the Zoo, the Safari Park, exploring the outdoors, or somewhere cold. I love the cold weather… real cold weather, not San Diego cold weather!
