Mom of the Month

Hello mamas!

My name is Greice Lane (pronounced “Gracie”), and I’m a proud mama to two handsome boys—Leonardo, who is 8½, and our newest addition, baby Benjamin, who is 6 months old. We also have Buddy, our sweet 10-year-old Golden Retriever mix. Needless to say, I’m the only girl in the house!

I’m originally from Brazil and moved to the United States when I was 19. I come from a big, loving family—my grandma had 11 children!—and I’m the youngest of three girls. I married my husband, Kyle, 11 years ago, and together we’ve built our little family (well… not so little anymore!).

Kyle and I got married in Mexico, and it was definitely a wedding to remember. I was that bride who jumped into the pool in her wedding dress!

I have a Business degree from SDSU and am a part-time real estate agent. These days, life is a fun (and sometimes crazy!) combination of driving Leo to soccer practices, volunteering at his school, playing, changing Benny’s diapers, and helping families find a place to call home. We bought our house in Clairemont eight years ago, and we absolutely love our neighborhood.

Before becoming a mom, I did a lot of traveling. I actually did do a year of law school in Brazil, but quickly realized it wasn’t for me—or maybe I was just too young—so I decided to travel the world instead! After spending a year in the U.S. as an au pair (you live with a host family, go to English school, and help with the kids—I wish I had an au pair right now!), I spent a year “studying” surfing in Australia. I’m still not sure how much actual studying happened there!

I also traveled to Indonesia, Italy, New Zealand, England, and many other places. I basically had my own little Eat, Pray, Love adventure! It sounds fancy, but I paid for all of my travels and college on my own. I worked full-time during the day and went to SDSU at night, but somehow I still managed to have an amazing time and make so many incredible memories.

But my greatest adventure has been becoming a mom. For about eight years, I was a mama to one child, and we made the most of it by traveling and creating so many wonderful memories together. We’ve traveled to Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and so many other places, and now we’re excited to introduce Benny to our love of adventure and explore even more places as a family.

Because of Kyle’s career in construction, our family has also had the opportunity to live in Northern California a couple of times. Shortly after we got engaged, we lived in Palo Alto, where I began my real estate career. More recently, we spent two years living in Napa, where we made incredible memories and formed friendships that we will always treasure. And yes, we definitely learned a lot about wine along the way!

But no matter where life takes us, San Diego will always feel like home.

And then there’s FIT4MOM! I feel incredibly lucky to have gotten a second chance to be part of this amazing community. I actually still have mama friends from when I first joined about eight years ago, which makes coming back even more special.

Fit4Mom has quickly become one of the highlights of my day. I love getting my workout in, catching up with the other mamas, sharing the ups and downs of motherhood, and—of course—watching all of our little ones play and grow together. There’s something so special about being surrounded by women who understand exactly what this season of life feels like.

Even my oldest, Leo, got to join us over the summer and had such a great time! It makes me so happy that he gets to see the community and friendships that have become such an important part of my life.

Motherhood has changed me in so many ways, and I’m incredibly grateful to have a village that makes this journey more fun, active, and meaningful. I’m thankful for the friendships, the laughs, the encouragement, and even the days when simply showing up feels like an accomplishment.

I’m so happy to be back with my FIT4MOM mamas and excited for all the memories still to come!
